Occer 12×25 Compact Binoculars Review
Occer 12×25 Compact Binoculars: QUICK OVERVIEW
What We Like
What We Don't Like
Hunting at night is inherently risky like hunting in general, except even more so due to the limited visibility. So how can you equip yourself to be extra safe and successful?
Why not start out with a pair of night vision binoculars? They don’t even have to be expensive. A decent pair can take you a long way in terms of scouting at least 100 yards ahead in good detail.
Case in point, the Occer 12×25 Compact Binoculars are a good place to start. While not designed for total darkness, these binoculars are still plenty useful in low-light conditions. Here’s why.
Occer 12×25 Compact Binoculars Review
This comfortable pair of night vision binoculars is one of the most affordable on the market. The light weight, modern look, and foldable design make them quite popular among amateur hunters and birdwatchers alike.
Who is this product for?
If you’re shopping on a tight budget, these Occer night vision binoculars may be the solution. They’re also good if you need something easy to grip and durable enough for harsh weather and rugged terrains.
The one thing that holds them back is the fact that they don’t have anything to offer in complete darkness. Therefore, they’re not the best all-around pair of binoculars unless you already have some night vision gear to complement them, like an infrared torch.
With your purchase of the Occer 12×25 Compact Binoculars you will receive the following items:
- One pair of night vision binoculars
- Cloth pouch with Velcro
- Adjustable neck strap
- Cleaning cloth
Overview of features
These compact binoculars are small and lightweight at 0.65 lbs. With the carry pouch and neck strap, the Occer 12×25 may just be one of the most easy-to-use night vision gadgets. They offer great freedom which is always important for night hunting.
The device has an ABS plastic casing which gives it decent water and shock resistance. There are also patches of rubber coating applied to enhance the grip, even if you think this isn’t really necessary given the light weight.
The image quality is so-so. The BAK4 Porro prisms are popular but not exactly high-end. Though these binoculars are designed for hunting, you will still need a good scope to ensure you get an accurate shot. After all, even with the 12x magnification, the Occer 12×25 binoculars are not really better than most IR spotters.
Despite the small 25 mm objective lenses, these binoculars offer a rather large field of view. You can take in 273 ft. at 1,000 yards which is pretty good for night vision binoculars. The optics and image quality are somewhat reflective of the gadget’s price tag.
However, sometimes sacrificing image quality isn’t bad. Not only do you save money with the Occer 12×25 but you also get a comfortable pair of binoculars. The 15 mm eyepieces are very comfortable and come with good FMC coating which eases eyestrain. The eye relief is also long which means that using glasses shouldn’t be a problem.
How to use
The magnification dial is located on the front. This allows for easy adjustments on the fly with either hand without taking your eyes off whatever you’re tracking.
You may also want to play with the rotatable eyepieces until you find the sweet spot. Although the default settings may work fine for a lot of users, if you wear glasses you definitely need to make some adjustments for both comfort and image quality.
Also, keep in mind that although the binoculars are water resistant they’re not completely waterproof. If you want to track something in light rain, it’s still recommended to cover up.
While these binoculars may be best for people on a tight budget, they are quite limited in what they can do. Durability aside, sometimes you absolutely need performance above all else to get the results you need. If you can afford to spend a bit more on night vision equipment, we have a sweet alternative for you.
The Cosbity Monocular Telescopes are mid-priced, durable, and comfortable. They work really well with smartphone cameras if you want to capture and share your nighttime adventures with others. Right off the bat, these monocular telescopes are much brighter and clearer due to their technically full-size 42 mm objective lens.
The lenses are multi-coated to enhance the image quality and also reduce the brightness reflected on your eyes. The rubber armor over the casing absorbs shocks and provides extra protection against water. This gadget is easy to adjust, light, and compatible with probably all smartphone cameras on the market.
The Occer night vision binoculars are something that anyone can afford. They have great magnification potential even though the design and components don’t go to the level of amazing image quality. The compactness, durability, and included accessories give this night vision gadget good value for the money.
